Richmond Concrete Experts does concrete work in Crockett, the hillside town where the Carquinez Strait meets San Pablo Bay. Crockett's streets climb steeply from the water, so steps, walls, and sloped driveways make up most of the jobs here.

About Crockett
Crockett is an unincorporated community of about 3,200 people covering 1.1 square miles in Contra Costa County, roughly 28 miles northeast of San Francisco. It's named after Joseph B. Crockett, a California Supreme Court justice, and began when Thomas Edwards Sr. bought 1,800 acres from him in 1866. Edwards' 1867 home, "The Old Homestead," is a California Historical Landmark. The Carquinez Bridge carries I-80 from Crockett to Vallejo, and the town is home to the headquarters of C&H Sugar.
Concrete on a Steep Town
Stairs and steps
Many Crockett homes are reached by flights of steps from the street. We rebuild them with even risers, solid footings, and a finish that grips in the rain.
Retaining walls
Terraced lots and cut slopes need walls that drain. Walls over 4 feet from the bottom of the footing, or holding up a driveway or slope, need a permit and engineering. More on our retaining walls page.
Sloped driveways and parking pads
Flat parking is valuable in Crockett. A parking pad cut into a slope usually needs a wall on the uphill side and drainage so runoff doesn't undermine it.
Repairs on older concrete
Crockett's older homes often have walks and steps with cracks, spalling, and settled sections. Some can be repaired; others need replacement. See concrete repair.
Climate on the Strait
Crockett has warm but not hot, dry summers and a wet winter season, like the rest of the North Bay shoreline. Winter storms are the main test for concrete here, so drainage and slope get planned first.
Permits
Crockett is unincorporated, so permits come from Contra Costa County. We confirm what applies to your address before scheduling.
