Commercial Concrete in Richmond, CA

Commercial Concrete Services

Sidewalks and walkways

Replacement of cracked, lifted, or trip-hazard sidewalk panels along storefronts and building entries, plus new walkways connecting parking, entrances, and trash areas.

Curb, gutter, and driveway approaches

Curb and gutter replacement and new or widened commercial driveway approaches. Work in the public right-of-way requires a City of Richmond encroachment permit, which we coordinate.

ADA curb ramps and accessible routes

Curb ramps, landings, and accessible paths of travel with detectable warning surfaces, built to the slopes and dimensions the plans and inspector require.

Dumpster enclosures and pads

Heavy-duty pads that stand up to loaded collection trucks, with a thickened apron where the truck sets down.

Equipment and transformer pads

Pads for HVAC units, generators, EV charging equipment, and utility transformers, formed to the equipment and utility specs.

Loading areas and yard slabs

Thicker, reinforced slabs for forklift traffic, delivery trucks, and outdoor storage at warehouses and industrial sites.

Parking lot repairs

Concrete sections of parking lots, wheel stop areas, and drive aisles, including saw-cut and replace work around failed areas.

Built to the Plans

Commercial concrete is built to a set of drawings, a specification, or both. We work from the plans for slab thickness, concrete strength, reinforcement, base, slopes, and joint layout, and we flag questions before the pour instead of after. Where the work needs inspection, it gets inspected before concrete is placed.

Working Around an Open Business

Most commercial work in Richmond happens while the property stays open. We plan around that:

  • Phasing work so entrances and parking stay usable
  • Scheduling noisy work like saw-cutting and breaking for agreed hours
  • Barricades, cones, and temporary walkways to keep customers and tenants safe
  • Cleaning up the site daily so it doesn't look like a construction zone

Richmond Site Conditions

Commercial sites along the Richmond shoreline, Marina Bay, and the industrial areas near the port often sit on fill over Bay mud. Settlement under older slabs and sidewalks is common there. When we replace concrete on those sites, we look at why the old concrete failed, dig out soft material, and rebuild the base with compacted Class II aggregate base before forming.

Rain matters too. Between November and March, we plan pours around storms and protect fresh concrete from rain, and we make sure new paving slopes toward drains instead of toward building entries.

Repairs vs. Replacement

Not every commercial problem needs new concrete. Trip hazards on a lifted sidewalk panel can sometimes be ground down, cracks can be routed and sealed, and settled panels can be replaced individually. We'll lay out repair and replacement options so you can budget. See concrete repair for residential and small commercial repairs.

Interior Floors

For shops, offices, showrooms, and warehouses, we also grind and polish existing slabs. See polished concrete.

Questions

Common Questions

Don't see yours? Call (510) 621-6126 and ask a real person.

Do you work with general contractors?

Yes. We can work as the concrete subcontractor on a larger project and coordinate with the GC's schedule and inspections.

Can you replace a sidewalk the city has cited?

Yes. Property owners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalk, driveway approach, and curb and gutter along their frontage. We replace the cited panels under an encroachment permit.

Can you work nights or weekends?

For businesses that can't close, we can discuss off-hours work where the city's rules allow it.

How fast can a commercial pad be put back in service?

It depends on thickness, mix, and loads. Foot traffic can often return in a day or two; truck traffic usually needs longer cure time.
